Who this is for

An enrolled voter who cannot use their EPIC because it is lost, damaged, or otherwise needs replacement.

Before you start

Find your electoral-roll details if possible. Open the current Form 8 and guidelines: they distinguish lost and damaged-card cases and may require different supporting records.

Key points

  • ECI lists replacement of EPIC as a Form 8 service for an existing elector. The current form and ERO determine what evidence applies to the individual request.
  • The EPIC is an identity document; a replacement request does not itself establish that the voter’s name is currently on the roll.

What to prepare

  • Your elector details or EPIC number if available.
  • For a lost EPIC, a copy of the FIR or police report. If the card is recovered later, return it as stated in Form 8.
  • For a mutilated or old EPIC, the card to be returned with the request. If it was destroyed in an event such as a flood or fire, select the applicable option on Form 8.

Steps

  1. Check that your name appears in the current electoral roll using the official voter search.
  2. Open Form 8 on the ECI portal and select the replacement EPIC service.
  3. For a lost EPIC, attach a copy of the FIR or police report; if the card is recovered later, return it as you undertake in Form 8. For a mutilated or old EPIC, return the card with the request. If it was destroyed in an event such as a flood or fire, select the matching option. Complete the declaration truthfully.
  4. Save the application acknowledgement and track its status. Once decided, follow the official delivery or collection instructions and recheck your voter record.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming every replacement case uses the same evidence.
  • Applying for a replacement before checking the current roll entry.
  • Paying an amount based on an old FAQ or unofficial page without confirming the current ECI instruction.

Short answers

Do lost and damaged cards have identical requirements?

Do not assume that they do. The current Form 8 guidelines describe the evidence for the specific reason; read them before submitting.

Can I vote while waiting for a replacement card?

The card and the right to vote are separate questions. Check that your name is on the roll and follow the identity-document instructions issued for that election.

If something goes wrong

  • If your name cannot be found, resolve the electoral-roll issue through the applicable official service before assuming a card request will fix it.
  • If the portal rejects the application, compare your selection and evidence with the current Form 8 guidelines.
  • Ask the ERO/BLO through the official contact route if the portal gives no clear next step.
